Below you will find statistics about the growing conditions for each variety - conditions in growing areas vary, so flavors under ideal conditions are listed, as well as underripe and overripe conditions. Desired styles can vary from place to place, so keep this in mind as you review the grape varietals. Also important to note, is that these grapes are obviously not the only red grapes in the world but a selection of the most common plantings across the world. Some, Like Nebbiolo, are very highly regarded grapes, but their plantings are essentially limited to one geographic region.
